How We Score Colostrum Brands
A ranking is only worth reading if you can check it. Here is the complete rubric, every score we awarded, and the conflicts of interest that apply.
Why we publish this
Almost every colostrum comparison online is affiliate-funded, including this one. The difference between a useful comparison and an advertisement is whether the method is visible.
So here is ours in full: the six criteria, their weightings, every score awarded to every brand, and the sources behind the specifications. If you disagree with the weightings, you can recalculate. That is the point.
What we did not do
We did not laboratory-test any of these powders. We are not equipped to, and a review site that implies otherwise is misleading you.
We did not use testimonials, before-and-after stories or user reviews as scoring inputs. Individual anecdotes are not evidence of product quality and they are trivially easy to fabricate.
We did not accept payment from any brand to be included, ranked or described in any particular way.
What we did do
We compared what each brand publishes about itself: collection window, milking status, processing, sourcing, testing, ingredient list and price. Where a brand does not publish something, the table says "not published" rather than estimating.
Where a figure comes from a retailer listing or a third-party review rather than the brand, the source is listed below and the copy says so.
Specifications were checked on 14 August 2026. Prices in particular move, and you should confirm current figures with the seller.
The conflict of interest, stated plainly
This site is operated by an independent Anovité associate. We earn a commission when someone buys Anovité products through our links. Our top-ranked brand is the brand we earn from.
That is a real conflict and no disclosure statement makes it disappear. What we can do is make the reasoning inspectable: the rubric is published, the scores are itemised, and we have documented where Anovité loses to competitors rather than quietly omitting it.
Read this site the way you would read any affiliate comparison — as a starting point for your own checking, not as a substitute for it. Ask any brand you are considering for a current batch certificate of analysis. That single document will tell you more than any review site can.
Corrections
If a specification on this site is wrong or has changed, tell us and we will fix it and note the change. Accuracy is the only thing a site like this has to trade on.
The weightings
| Criterion | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Collection-window transparency | 25% | Does the brand state, in writing, the window after calving in which its colostrum is collected? A stated window is checkable; silence is not. |
| Whole vs. fractionated colostrum | 20% | Is the colostrum sold whole, or has fat, casein or specific fractions been stripped out or standardised to a single marker? |
| Independent verification | 20% | Is there third-party lab testing, and is it referenced on the product page rather than only in marketing material? |
| Sourcing transparency | 15% | Country, herd standard, grass-fed status, hormone and antibiotic policy, and whether calves are fed first. |
| Added sugar and fillers | 10% | Anything in the tub that is not colostrum. Flavoured 'breakfast drink' formats are penalised heavily here. |
| Value and availability | 10% | Cost per serving at published prices, and how easily a buyer in a given country can actually obtain it. |
